México tendrá que importar maíz por cambio climático

Productores mexicanos manifestaron que se deberían importar alrededor de 10 millones de toneladas de maíz como resultado de una baja producción provocada por el cambio climático.

De acuerdo a la Confederación Nacional Campesina de México, manifiesta que este año por los problemas provocados por el cambio climático, este país tendría que importar aproximadamente 10 millones de toneladas de maíz debido a la disminución de la producción en los estados de Puebla, México, Tlaxcala y Sinaloa.

En la ceremonia, donde el Sr. Noé Barrueta Barón fue elegido presidente de la Unión Nacional de Productores de Maíz, UNPM-CNC, el presidente de la Confederación Nacional Campesina, Sr. Gerardo Sánchez García, señaló que actualmente solamente se concede 3 por ciento del presupuesto federal al segmento agrícola.

Es más en un comunicado, el Sr. Sánchez puntualizó que en el año 1995 a la agricultura se le otorgaba 6.4 por ciento del presupuesto federal, en el 2000 se disminuyó a 2.9 por ciento y actualmente a 3 por ciento, indicando que éste se ha reducido en más de 50 por ciento en los últimos años.

Por su parte, el nuevo presidente electo la Unión Nacional de Productores de Maíz, Sr. Noé Barrueta, afirmó que en lo referente al crédito para la agricultura en los años 90 comprendía 6.5 millones de hectáreas y luego de 10 años éste se restringió drásticamente a 750 mil hectáreas.

Esta elección fue presidida por el diputado federal Sr. Víctor Manuel Galicia, responsable de la Comisión de Procesos Internos de la Confederación Nacional Campesina, manifestó que la alianza de la Unión Nacional de Productores de Maíz y la Confederación Nacional Campesina ayudará a lograr cambios en post de una reforma sustantiva para la agricultura.
