Desabastecimiento de pollo en Venezuela

El gobierno cuestiona a la industria avícola nacional privada

De acuerdo con el diario El Mundo de Venezuela, “el año 2012 fue controversial para los productores, distribuidores y comerciantes de pollo en Venezuela”, pues empezó con un alza en la producción nacional, pero al acabar había poca distribución en supermercados y mercados municipales. La carencia la comprobó el gobierno mediante operativos especiales.

Según el ministro de Alimentación, Carlos Osorio, disminuyeron las importaciones por parte del gobierno al finalizar el año con el afán de proteger la producción nacional. Pero esto resultó en un desabastecimiento en los supermercados.

Para ello, esta semana se reunió el gobierno con representantes del sector avícola para evaluar dicho desabastecimiento. El ministro Osorio se preguntaba qué era lo que pasaba en el sector privado, porque según el gobierno “sí hay pollo”.

Según Francisco Tagliapietra presidente de la Federación Nacional de Avicultores, Fenavi, en febrero del año pasado, la producción de pollo en Venezuela había aumentado cerca de 11 por ciento, es decir, 96,000 toneladas mensuales, además de que alertó que se debía revisar el precio “de forma constante para evitar rezago y efectos negativos”. No obstante, la importación en ese período se elevaba a más de 47,000 toneladas, casi 50 por ciento del total importado en 2011.
