Aumentan áreas cultivadas de maíz y soya en Bolivia

En Santa Cruz de la Sierra los plantíos crecieron 28 por ciento

De acuerdo con boletín publicado por el Instituto Boliviano de Comercio Exterior (Ibce), a finales de enero la Asociación de Productores de Oleaginosas y Trigo (Anapo) informó que la superficie sembrada con maíz en el departamento de Santa Cruz para la campaña 2013-2014 alcanzó las cien mil hectáreas, 28 mil más de las 72 mil registradas en el periodo 2012-2013.

“El buen precio del mercado interno (120 bolivianos el quintal / 7 dólares por 100 kilos), ha llevado a que los cultivos de maíz para esta campaña de verano se incremente de manera notoria en comparación a la similar campaña del año pasado. Todo indica que no se tendrá desabastecimiento de este producto”, explicó Demetrio Pérez,  presidente de Anapo.

También experimentó un crecimiento -aunque leve- el área destinada a producir soya para la campaña 2013-2014. “En Santa Cruz se acabaron de sembrar 900 mil hectáreas, 10 mi más de las 890 mil del año pasado”. El directivo gremial agregó que de lograrse un rendimiento de dos toneladas de soya por hectárea, la producción en la campaña de verano superaría las dos millones de toneladas de este cereal, insumo para la actividad avícola.
