El país suramericano busca capitalizar en la disputa comercial existente entre Estados Unidos y China con exportaciones en 2019. 

Un alto funcionario del Ministerio de Agricultura explicó la semana pasada que Argentina planifica exportar cantidades sustanciales de harina de soya a China a partir de la próxima cosecha en mayo.

Funcionarios argentinos se encontraban en Pekín el viernes finalizando los trámites necesarios para enviar productos a China, dijo Santiago del Solar, jefe de gabinete del ministerio, en una entrevista publicada por CNBC.

Argentina ya es el principal exportador de harina de soya. En 2017, exportó 28.3 millones de toneladas de este producto, y poco más del 33 por ciento se destinó a la Unión Europea.

En junio, Beijing colocó aranceles sobre la harina de soya de Estados Unidos como resultado de una disputa comercial en curso. Estos aranceles, junto con otros a diversos productos, están abriendo las puertas a países como Argentina en el mercado chino.

CNBC informó que el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, explicó recientemente que espera que más exportaciones de soya vayan a Europa. Sin embargo, a Del Solar no pareció preocuparle que Estados Unidos pueda desplazar a Argentina de sus mercados actuales, incluidos Europa, Vietnam e Indonesia, a pesar de que las exportaciones de soya estadounidense están en aumento en la Unión Europea. 

Si China elige continuar con su trato de harina de soya con Argentina, el país tendrá suministros limitados disponibles debido a la sequía. No obstante, se espera que los agricultores tengan que aumentar la producción en la próxima temporada de siembra para satisfacer las demandas de China.

A medida que Argentina capitaliza en las disputas entre Estados Unidos y China en la industria de alimentos balanceados, la industria porcina estadounidense parece beneficiarse de las importaciones argentinas. 

La semana pasada, el secretario de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos, Sonny Perdue, celebró la reintroducción de productos porcinos estadounidenses en el mercado argentino después de más de 20 años.

“Este nuevo mercado es una gran victoria para los agricultores y ganaderos estadounidenses. Este es un gran día para nuestra comunidad agrícola y un ejemplo de cómo la administración de Trump se compromete a apoyar a nuestros productores abriendo nuevos mercados para sus productos”, dijo Perdue.
