La nueva alianza va a combatir a enfermedades emergentes y reemergentes que rindan beneficios a las autoridades de salud pública.

Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (WBVR) y Ceva Santé Animale (Ceva) anunciaron una nueva colaboración para desarrollar vacunas veterinarias para el control de las enfermedades infecciosas emergentes de los animales, como la fiebre de Rift Valley y la influenza. Con un estimado del 75 por ciento de las enfermedades infecciosas emergentes en humanos que se originan de reservorios animales, esta nueva plataforma de investigación y desarrollo brinda un excelente ejemplo de cómo pueden trabajar en conjunto los sectores público y privado.

Para reforzar este punto, el Dr. Ludo Hellebrekers, director del WBVR, dijo: “Esta asociación público-privada en el campo de la sanidad animal es una gran oportunidad para fortalecer aún más nuestro enfoque ‘One Health’ (Una sola salud) en el control de las enfermedades infecciosas emergentes y reemergentes. Ambos socios cuentan con experiencia real en los proyectos seleccionados, por lo que creemos que esto brindará fuertes beneficios a las autoridades de salud pública del mundo”.

Por su parte, el presidente y CEO de Ceva, Dr. Marc Prikazsky, expresó después de la ceremonia de la firma que están “muy complacidos de formar esta alianza estratégica con Wageningen Bioveterinary Research, que ostenta una reputación muy respetada en el campo de las enfermedades animales infecciosas.
