El conocimiento del genoma completo de la cepa 72 de Avibacterium paragallinarum permite el desarrollo de vacunas recombinantes que pueden ayudar a controlar la Coriza infecciosa.

Una empresa peruana ha realizado una investigación utilizando técnicas de biología molecular de última generación, el “Pirosecuenciamiento” del genoma completo de la cepa 72 de Avibacterium paragallinarum, una bacteria típica encontrada en pollos de engorde en las granjas de Chincha, Ica, Perú. Esta bacteria es el agente causante de la “Coriza” infecciosa, una enfermedad del tracto respiratorio superior que causa importantes pérdidas económicas principalmente asociadas a una disminución en la producción de huevos.

Esta investigación fue realizada por la empresa FARVET S.A.C., dedicada a la investigación y comercialización de nuevas vacunas en aves que tiene su planta de producción y laboratorios de investigación en la ciudad de Chincha, Ica, Perú.

El conocimiento del genoma completo de la cepa 72 de Avibacterium paragallinarum nos coloca a la vanguardia en la investigación de potenciales “targets” y factores de patogenicidad para el desarrollo de vacunas recombinantes que puedan estimular el sistema inmune de manera eficiente y controlar la enfermedad en un corto plazo.

La secuencia completa del genoma completo de la cepa 72 de Avibacterium paragallinarum fue recientemente publicada y está a disposición de todos los investigadores desde el 28 de julio de 2011 en el NCBI.
