Hace una década y luego de un intenso cabildeo, la Federación Nacional de Avicultores de Colombia (Fenavi) había logrado que el parlamento de este país andino expidiera la Ley 1255 “por la cual se declara de interés social nacional y como prioridad sanitaria la creación de un programa que preserve el estado sanitario de país libre de influenza aviar, así como el control y erradicación de la enfermedad del Newcastle en el territorio nacional y se dictan otras medidas encaminadas a fortalecer el desarrollo del sector avícola nacional”.
