Perú: Incrementa su consumo de carne de ave

En la última década el consumo per cápita de carne de ave se incremento en 73%, este consumo está concentrado el 65% en Lima y 35% en las provincias peruanas.

Durante la inauguración de la Semana de la Avicultura en Perú, el ministro de Agricultura, Sr. Jorge Villasante Araníbar, informó que el consumo per cápita de carne de ave en el Perú subió a 35 kilos en el 2010, significando un incremento de 73% respecto del año 2000 cuando se reportó un consumo de 20.2 kilos por persona.

El Ministro del sector señaló que de los 35 kilos de ave, 32.3 corresponde a pollo, convirtiéndola en la carne preferida de los peruanos frente al consumo de pescado que reporta 17.9 Kg/persona/año, la carne de res 5.8, mientras que de cerdo se consumen solamente cuatro kilos.

El Sr. Villasante Araníbar precisó que en el 2010, la producción del sector avícola tanto de carne de ave y huevos contribuyó con 22.2% de la producción agropecuaria. En ese sentido, dijo que este sector de alto impacto seguirá creciendo sostenidamente al igual que en años anteriores.

Asimismo, manifestó que la avicultura peruana brinda empleo a 280 mil familias y más de un millón de personas dependen de ese sector, a esto se suman los 29 millones de consumidores que se benefician de sus productos.

Por su parte, el presidente de la Asociación Peruana de Avicultura, APA, Pedro Mitma, manifestó que el 65% del consumo nacional de pollo se concentró en Lima y el 35% en provincias. Añadió también que la producción de huevo en los últimos 11 años creció a una tasa de 4.8% promedio anual y se acentuó a partir del 2005.

Para iniciar la Semana de la Avicultura, hoy la APA ofreció un desayuno a base de carne de pollo a los niños del puericultorio Pérez Aranibar y hoy jueves 23 se ofrecerá una pollada que será compartida por más de un centenar de pobladores de los comedores populares del distrito del Rímac.

En el marco de esta festividad, además la APA hará entrega de un importante donativo de raciones de pollo y huevos a cuatro comedores populares para garantizar la alimentación de su población.
