Se declara bajo control el brote de influenza aviar en México

No se han notificado casos nuevos durante 68 días consecutivos

En televisión el Presidente Felipe Calderón de México declaró que el reciente brote de influenza aviar en el estado de Jalisco, que resultó en el sacrificio de más de 22 millones de aves desde junio, está completamente controlado.

En los últimos 68 días consecutivos no se han notificado nuevos casos del virus H7N3. “Podemos decir que hemos superado el caso y declarar que el brote está completamente controlado”, dijo el Presidente Calderón. La mayoría de las gallinas descartadas fue en Jalisco, en donde se echó a andar un programa de vacunación para prevenir que el virus llegue a otras zonas.

Mientras tanto, el brote ha causado que aumente el precio del huevo de manera importante, aunque ya se ha estabilizado. El país ha autorizado importaciones para satisfacer la escasez, para lo cual han ingresado 14,000 toneladas de huevo de otros países, principalmente de EUA.
