Erradicar el virus de la influenza aviar podría tomar una década

Esto se comunicó en un informe de la FAO, añadiendo que para erradicar el H5N1 es necesario un compromiso continuo y que no se circunscribe sólo a una respuesta de emergencia.

La Organización de las Naciones Unidas, ONU, para la Agricultura y Alimentación, FAO, sostuvo el día 21 de abril que erradicar el virus de la influenza aviar podría tomar 10 años.

Además, se señaló que para eliminar el H5N1 es necesario un compromiso continuo por parte de la comunidad internacional y a largo plazo, que no esté limitado sólo a la respuesta de emergencia.

En el comunicado de la FAO se dieron a conocer una serie de recomendaciones sobre las medidas que se deberían adoptar en cada país durante los próximos cinco años.

De igual forma, recalcó que todos los segmentos de la cadena de producción y comercialización deben ser examinados para evaluar las áreas de riesgo.
