La caída del precio y la fortaleza financiera de los agricultores podrían motivar esto

Según se informó en el periódico mexicano Reforma, los productores agrícolas de EUA “podrían estar reacios a vender maíz ante precios que han caído un 30 por ciento este año por las expectativas de una cosecha abundante”, según comentó un representante del Consejo de Granos (USGC) de ese país.

Debido a que había una menor producción en EUA, que es el principal exportador de maíz en el mundo, esto mantenía altos los precios en los últimos años, además de otros factores. No obstante, ahora se espera que haya cosecha récord.

Después de haber obtenido ganancias enormes en los últimos años al llegar a máximos históricos, es probable que ahora se vaya a vender a precios más bajos, pero como los agricultores cuentan con una fuerte posición financiera, van a almacenar el maíz en lugar de venderlo, comentó un representante del mismo USGC.

Como las cosechas estadounidenses de maíz y soya han tenido este año un clima ideal en la mayor parte del ciclo de cultivo, el panorama de producción es bueno.

Por otro lado, países como Argentina, Brasil, y Ucrania, han aumentado su producción en los últimos años, pero los precios a la baja podrían limitar dicha expansión.
