Industria avícola Argentina atenta ante la llegada de Brasil Foods

Avicultores argentinos estiman que con la adquisición de avícola Avex por parte de Brasil Foods, cambiarán las condiciones del sector, ya que éste era un rubro 100% argentino.

Tras la llegada del gigante brasileño Brasil Foods, BRF, la industria avícola argentina se remeció. El Sr. Roberto Domenech, titular de la cámara sectorial, señaló con nostalgia: “Eramos uno de los pocos rubros 100% argentinos”. Ahora, las cosas cambiaron. BRF desembolsó US$150 millones de fondos propios para quedarse con 66% de Avex, la sexta del ranking. Y de inmediato extendió sus dominios al negocio de empresa Dánica, la firma que fundó en 1940 el inmigrante danés Christian Boll. En esta operación actuó el Rabobank.

En el último tiempo, no hubo ningún problema económico que lograra debilitar el crecimiento en la producción de pollos en Argentina, situándose en 60 millones de aves por día y 20% de la producción se exporta, con lo cual Argentina se convirtió en un actor importante en el mercado mundial. Ante este contexto, Brasil Foods siguió un plan y adquirió Avex. Esta compañía surgió por la iniciativa de un grupo de diez inversores que comenzaron de cero una instalación de última generación que acababa de implantar el segundo turno para duplicar volúmenes. Sin embargo, para continuar en las primeras ligas, Avex necesitaba nueva inversión de capital, además de deambular por despachos oficiales para que el Gobierno pagara millonarias compensaciones adeudadas. En esas circunstancias, algunos decidieron vender y otros, como Carlos Miguens, fueron a negociar a Brasil con intención de asociarse al comprador. Es así como, Miguens se quedó con 33%.

Hay que recordar, que Brasil Foods surge tras la absorción de la soberana en carnes Sadia por su competidora Perdigao, facturando US$14,000 millones. Su presidente, José Fay, manifestó que “Argentina implica diversificar la matriz productiva”. Algo similar, en otra escala, concretizó la empresa argentina Tres Arroyos, de la familia De Grazia, en Uruguay. Los De Grazia lideran en argentina con 20% del mercado. El número dos es para Cresta Roja, de la familia Rasic, con 15%. Quienes conocen el mercado aseguran que esas proporciones se alterarán. BRF es la mayor exportadora mundial de carnes y piensa seguir de shopping. Cabe destacar que las cifras son la siguientes: en Brasil BRF procesa al día 6.7 millones de aves; 37,000 cerdos y 2,000 bovinos.
