Rusia y Japón suspenden importaciones del estado de Carolina del Norte de EUA

De acuerdo al portavoz del APHIS no hay razones para la suspensión de las importaciones de estos países, ya que las aves testeadas no mostraron signos de IA.

El Servicio de Inspección de Animal, APHIS, del Departamento de Agricultura de EUA, USDA, informó que, debido a problemas sanitarios, Rusia y Japón suspenden las importaciones de carne de ave (pollo y pavo) del estado estadounidense de Carolina del Norte, según la agencia de noticias Bloomberg.

Al explicar lo que ocurrió en ese estado, Lyndsay Cole, portavoz de APHIS, comentó que las pruebas iniciales en un lote de pavos en Carolina del Norte revelaron positividad al virus de baja patogenicidad de la influenza aviar. “Sin embargo, futuras pruebas no fueron capaces de aislar el virus, es más las aves analizadas no presentaron ningún signo de enfermedad “, dijo Cole.

Con estos resultados, concluye la portavoz del APHIS, es evidente que no existen signos de influenza aviar en las aves testeadas, por lo cual no hay razones para la suspensión de las importaciones.

Datos del USDA indican que en 2010 el estado de Carolina del Norte fue el quinto mayor productor de pollo de EUA, sólo detrás de Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas y Mississippi. El número de cabezas de aves criadas en este estado corresponde a aproximadamente 8% de la producción de EUA.
