Procesados de pollo panameño podrán venderse en México

La Asamblea Nacional del istmo ratificó el TLC suscrito entre ambos países

Desde octubre de 2014 y durante
los próximos cinco años, los derivados de carne de pollo fabricados en Panamá
podrán exportarse libremente al mercado mexicano, junto con otras seis líneas
de artículos agropecuarios específicos que incluyen flores, sandías, melones,
despojos de carne bovina, cacao y productos de mar.

Esta determinación hace parte del
texto que contiene el respectivo tratado de libre comercio (TLC) aprobado en
tercer debate por la Asamblea Nacional de Panamá, máximo órgano legislativo de
esta nación centroamericana. Este TLC entre la República de Panamá y los
Estados Unidos Mexicanos es requisito indispensable para que el país canalero
pueda ingresar a la Alianza del Pacífico, acuerdo comercial del que hacen parte
Perú, Chile, Colombia y México.

De acuerdo con la publicación
Centralamerica, el documento del TLC incluye también controles aduaneros y
servicios financieros, al igual que un capítulo de soluciones de controversias
comerciales. Por su parte, la Asociación Nacional de Avicultores de Panamá
(Anavip) había anunciado en agosto pasado un incremento del 14.5 por ciento en
la producción de pollo durante el primer semestre, alcanzando 71.8 millones de
kilos.

El mismo ente gremial asegura que
la población avícola panameña es de 19.5 millones de ejemplares; de ella, unos
15.8 millones se destinan a engorde, 2.5 millones son ponedoras y 1.2 millones
aves reproductoras. En total, el negocio de criar y engordar aves de corral en
Panamá se lo disputan 17 empresas y el consumo per cápita actualmente ronda las
80 libras (40 kg).
